She was brought up from a patriot and intellectual family, unlike many families of that time, freedom was found in Payman Omar’s family, because when they entered the world of art and music, it had been for many years that women of the Kurdish society were oppressed. No one was looking at women with a respectful eye, for this reason Payman Omar says on her autobiography :
We broke the path of norms and tradition in the early years of 1970s. It was that we were three sisters, we entered the world of Kurdish music. Although we were considered very ugly, we were talked about and treated badly: both in society and among them The Ba'ath regime, but we did not listen to these things, our family supported us even more and they encouraged us to serve our people and our nation, for the sake of original Kurdish art, so that we also as women can consolidate our identity in our society. She went on with her career in the art of singing and musical works with the Sulaymaniyah Band in the 1980s. after that She went abroad in the year 1998 and has been living in Norway ever since.[1][2]
