He was born in the year 1951 which corresponds to the year 1330 of Solar calendar, he was born from an artistic family in the city #Sanandaj#. He received his primary musical education under the supervision of Kurdish musician Hassan Kamkar. In the year 1972, he was admitted to the College of Fine Arts of #Tehran# University the music department. He then founded the Shaida and Arif music groups with well-known Iranian artists Mohammad Reza Lutfi, Hossein Alizadeh and Parviz Moshkatian. These two groups gave some successful concerts with the voices of the famous Iranian singer Mohammad Reza Shajarian and experienced Kurdish singer Shahram Nazri, and also recorded several albums that are undoubtedly among the strongest works in Iranian original music.
Pashang Kamkar has recorded a number of respectable works with the music group Kamkaran and has performed in many major halls of the world. He has also successfully participated in many important music festivals with his family, including: WOMAD festival that was supervised by Peter Gabriel and Summer Estich in #New York#, the Italian Modern Composer Luciano Brio Music Festival in the UK in 2004, the String Team Festival in Agadir, Morocco in 2006, and the Barbican Center Festival in the UK in 2008.
Kurdish musician Pashang Kamkar has written several books including Shiwa centurzani, Moj, Yadgaran, Gul Niaz and Mirza Abdullah's rhyme. He is currently teaching the centaur instrument at Tehran University of Arts and Construction and also he is in Kamkaran Music School in Tehran. He is teaching centaur instrument to music students there.[1]
