This famous Kurdish poet's full name is Hassan son of Mirza Qasm Qazi. He was born in the year 1876 in the city of Sablakh (Mahabad), East Kurdistan, to an intellectual and well-known family of the region. He began his education with his father as a child and acquired expertise in religious sciences, Persian and Arabic literature.
He traveled to many different Kurdish cities and towns in different parts of Kurdistan in order to complete his studies and obtain more information and knowledge. He studied Islamic jurisprudence with the great teachers of Islamic jurisprudence of his time in Sulaymaniyah and Biara.
In addition to being a strong social figure and an expert religious teacher, Saif also played a major role in writing poetry.
From the use of simple Kurdish words and avoidance of foreign words we can see that this talented poet had a high national feeling and tried to make everyone understand his poems and works, in order to conduct his beliefs easily for those who listened to him.
Haji Qadir Koyi and Nali are the two poets that Saif used as two great sources and tried to follow their path in his national and love poems.
Mirza Hassan also recorded the natural and social events of his time in poetry and as a meticulous artist he has preserved many stories and events of his region in the form of beautiful poetry. He is a tasteful poet who encourages people to enlighten themselves in most of his works. He has also written many beautiful poems in both Persian and Arabic.[1]
