Mariwan Halabjayi was born in the city of Halabja, South Kurdistan, and he currently lives abroad.
He is a Kurdish writer and author, who mainly focuses on writing about sensitive religious topics.
He is the author of the book Sex, Sharia, and Women in Islam, which caused a big outrage among the radical Islamists.
The Kurdish writer Mariwan Halabjayi has been sentenced to death by many radical Islamists due to his comments about Islam and his beliefs.
Many demonstrations have been held in many cities of South Kurdistan such as Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, Duhok, Halabja, Darbandikhan, Ranya, Chamchamal and some other towns against his writings and publications. This has caused protests among freedom fighters and all human rights organizations.
Regarding this issue, in late March 2006, the State Department issued a report outlining the US foreign policy.
