His full name is Sherzad Anwar Bakr Ali and he was born in 1950 in the city of Erbil, South Kurdistan.
He began his career in 1967, in the same year he participated in his first concert at the Teachers' House as a violinist. The groups in which he participated in the establishment of the following are: (Teachers Union, Kurdish Literature Society, Erbil Art Group, New Kurdish Art Group, Karwan Music Group, Halgurd Music Group). In addition to opening more than 40 music courses in schools and youth centers, he has participated in all festivals in Iraq and Kurdistan.
He has published two booklets entitled (My Wounds Sing) and (The Shadow of the Walnut Tree), and he has composed dozens of hymns and songs for singers.
He is the cousin of artists Tal'at Arif 'Uzeri and Judet Shakir 'Uzeri. He was employed as a music instructor at Markaz Shabab in order to form a band that would produce music courses with the help of artist Luqman Barzanji and his brothers. In 1983, they formed the band Karwan and recorded their first album. In 1985, they recorded their last album.
The artist has been arrested three times in his life: the first time for his booklet “My Wounds Sing” in which he says in a poem (When I saw the castle... the blow of the wings of an owl comes... it shakes it), Although he wrote in many places that these were generaal and the culture of the Shabab allowed him to write so, he was interrogated and released after a week on condition that he did not talk about it.
The second time, on his pamphlet Shadow of the Walnut Tree, which contained an operetta, he mentions that “the revolutionary is martyred—his friends hand over his weapons to his family—and his family has a son.” By this he meant that the revolution would continue. During interrogation, they told him that when the Iraqi soldiers are killed their weapons are not handed over to his family, so you must mean the Peshmerga. After a month and three days, they released him.
The third time he was imprisoned, he allegedly set up a Marxist organization, but the truth was that an old socialist Peshmarga was arrested, and Sherzad 'Uzeri had met him at some point.
Unfortunately, Sherzad 'Uzeri passed away on #02-12-2009#.[1]
