Kamal Sabir was born in 1944 in Malkandi neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah. He completed his primary and secondary education in Sulaymaniyah.
He has been working in the arts since childhood and is known among his friends for his good talk and jokes.
He married in 1970 and started a family. He left behind two sons and two daughters named Hardi, Haval, Halala and Harez. He has always treated them as friends within his family.
Kamal was also engaged in political and Kurdish activities alongside his art. He never surrendered to the enemy and stood up to them courageously and insisted on his path. Kamal Sabir was an honest and moral man, a great comedian of the Kurdish nation.
Therefore, this artist was known as a great, proud and beloved among his nation. Every household in Kurdistan knew and loved Kamal Sabir as an artist and a human being.
On 1997-06-02 he died, and with his passing he created a void in the Kurdish world of art.
Kamal Sabir's stations throughout his life:
- 1964 - 1965 he graduated from the teachers' college.
- In 1969 he began his artistic career.
- Until 1972, he was a member of the Friends of Gaziza.
- In 1973, he was a member of the founding committee and member of the management committee of the Kurdish theater troupe.- Member of the founding committee of the Kurdistan Artists Union (1983-1993).
- Member of the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of the Kurdistan Artists Union.
- Member of the founding committee of Kurdistan People's Television in 1991.
- Member of the founding committee of Keshkol program.
- Director of Kurdistan Regional Television (1994 -1995).
- 1983 - 1984 Courageously joined the Sharushakhi Committee of the Kurdistan Artists Union.
- 1996 - 1997 Artistic Supervisor of Hoy Teaching Center.[1]
