His full name is Fayaq Arif Ghafour.
He was a chemist and scientist, and one of the founding members of the organisation KAJIK.
He was born on July 1, 1933 in the city of Sulaymaniyah, South Kurdistan to an intellectual and educated family.
He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in his hometown of Sulaymaniyah.
He was admitted to the Royal Higher College in 1952 and received his bachelor's degree in the year 1956.
In 1961 he married Fatima Abdulqadir and continued to serve until his retirement. He was the father of five children, whose names are Zardasht, Naghdeh, Chnur, Avesta and Zerin.
From the beginning of his youth, he was influenced by Kurdish nationalistic feelings and had a close relationship with many friends such as Jamal Nabaz, Ahmad Hardi, Faraidun Ali Amin, Abdullah Jawhar, Kamil Zhir and Dr. Ihsan Fuad. He participated in the establishment of the Kurdish Freedom Association and the Kurdish Union (KAJIK), which was a national political organization and played a role in reviving national thought and feelings and raising the morale of the people and enlightening them.
In 1974, he actively participated in the September Revolution, where he played a prominent role until the end of the revolution in 1975.
After the tragedy of March 6, 1975, he returned and was expelled form Kurdistan by the regime. He was transferred to Baghdad and was forced to stay there for 13 years.
During this time in Baghdad, he was transferred to the Higher Medical Institute, where he continued to teach as a chemist and conducted several scientific researches in his field.
He has published two books on analytical chemistry, which are still taught in Kurdistan and Iraqi medical institutes.
He died on February 15, 2022.[1]
