Kamal Chomani is an independent journalist.
He was born in 1985 in the forced community of Harir. After the uprising of 1991 , he returned to Choman district where he currently lives.
In 2007, he graduated from the Department of English language, College of Education, Salahaddin University.
In 2005, he started writing for the Kurdish newspapers and magazines.
In 2005, he and several of his colleagues published a newspaper called Halgurd in the Choman district.
He has worked with Awene newspaper since its first issue.
He later became a member of the editorial board of Standard and Rega magazines. He later became the editorial board of Levin magazine. He has written continuously in private and free newspapers and websites.
Some of his articles have been translated into Arabic, English and Persian. Much of his work has focused on the Kurdish issue in North Kurdistan, Turkey and the PKK.
He has met several times with PKK leaders, including Murad Qarayilan.
Over the past two years, he has been a reporter for Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and has prepared several reports on violations of journalists' rights and press freedom. He has collaborated with international organizations to promote press freedom and human rights, such as Human Rights Watch.
Kamal Chomani is currently studying for a master's degree in English literature in India.[1]
