The famous Kurdish singer Osman Ali was born in the year 1944 in the Malkandi neighborhood of the city of Sulaymaniyah, South Kurdistan. He studied only until the fifth grade of primary school, after which he was forced to quit school and start working to provide for his family.
In 1963, he joined the Kurdistan Revolution and became a Peshmerga.
He began his career in 1965 and in 1969 he became a member of the Kurdish Arts and Literature Association, Department of Music and Song. He later became one of the most active singers in the region.
He got married in 1967 and has four children; three daughters and a son.
After the outbreak of the September Revolution, he worked with members of the Sulaymaniyah Musical Troupe and the Revolutionary Band. He continued to be an active member of the Sulaymaniyah Band for the remainder of his life. However, he has also collaborated with the Mawlawi Band, Shoriksh Band and Newroz Band.
He has also participated in many national and social events, concerts and festivals in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
He has always been an active and prominent member of the Kurdistan Artists Union.
Since 1996, he has been in charge of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces clothing factory.
On the night of June 21/22, 2005, while singing Maqam, he gave his last breath to the beautiful and vast world of Kurdish art, so that they would not be separated from each other forever.
The late singer was able to give an important legacy to the Kurdish music archive in the history of this dictionary and recorded some excellent works.
After the death of Osman Ali, Kurdsat TV prepared and published an album of his songs and works with the help of the artist's family.[1]
