Doctor Ja'fari Shafi'i was born to a religious family in the year 1330 AH of the solar calendar which corresponds to the year 1951 in the city of Bokan Eastern part of Kurdistan. He completed his primary education, secondary education, and high school education in the city of Bokan. In between the years 1969 and 1970, he went to Tabriz to study at the Tabriz Medical University to continue his studies. Later, he became one of the student leaders and activists at Tabriz University due to his political activities. Ja'fari Shafi'i became acquainted with the leftist political ideas and Marxism, especially during his student days, which was a cause that led him to join the leftist organization of Komala in Kurdistan. In the year 1972, he was arrested by the Savak security agency and he was tortured for six months by Savak because of his political activities. In the year 1977, he was sent to the Southern part of Kurdistan to carry out an organizational task of Komala, he becomes active along the lines of the southern Kurdistan political activists. During the time of the revolutions against the monarchy, he returned to the Eastern part of Kurdistan and participated as an organizer and leader of the activists. In the summer of the year1979, because of his intelligence and ability, he was elected as a member of the Kurdish delegation to negotiate with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Dr. Jafari Shafi'i passed away in the year 1987 in a car accident in South Kurdistan.[1]
