His full name is Hassan Mustafapour, however he is more commonly known as Hassan Duzala. He was born in the year 1932 in the city of Mahabad, East Kurdistan. He has been playing the Duzalea and Narmana (traditional Kurdish musical instruments) for 60 years and can skillfully play the repertoire of Kurdish music and songs from various cities in Iran, Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Turkey.
Hassan Duzala has collaborated with many other famous Kurdish singers Hassan Zirak, Mohammad Mamle, Mullah Hussein Abdullazadeh and many others.
From 1962 to 2007, he continuously collaborated in various programs of the central radio and television of Mahabad and also participated in music festivals throughout Iran from time to time.
In 1989, Hassan Duzala participated in the 4th Fajr International Music Festival and won the third place as the best instrumentalist of the festival. In 2003, he was named Iran's Outstanding Religious Artist at the second Iranian Religious Music Festival.
He also participated in the 3rd Iranian Regional Music Festival in 2001 and gave a research concert in the 20th Fajr International Music Festival in 2005.
This Kurdish instrumentalist is insured and paid a salary by the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. He is currently a tenant in a small house in Mahabad and he spends his time in this city with full knowledge of Kurdish melodies, songs and music.
Hassan Mustafapour's expertise and skills are such that the Kurdish people have given him the nickname Hassan Duzala and this artist is known by this name in various cities of neighboring countries.[1]
