Kawa Kawani - Singer
His full name is Kawa Abdulrazzaq Ahmad. He was born on 12-02-1968 in Erbil, South Kurdistan. He got hisDiploma in Telegraph and Bethel Higher Institute for Post in Baghdad. He started his artistic career in 1986. In the same year, he founded the band Sazan with Bzhar Dilan, Basil Sabah and Luqman Shekhani. In 1989, he recorded several folk songs with the Sazan Band. In 1990, he recorded several new songs with the same band. In 1991, he recorded his first song on the Kurdistan Front called Our Flag is United In 1996, he left Kurdistan due to the civil war and moved to Turkey. He settled in Istanbul and founded Kawani Production Company. He has helped several young Kurdish artists in the city and began with helping Zakaria Abdullah with his album Rojgar. He has worked for many artists in Turkey, including Hardi Salah, Ayub Ali, Mahir Mohammed Amin, Qadir Asad, Hemn Hussein, Leila Fariqi, Adnan Karim, Naser Rezazi, Alan Omar, Aziz Salam, Chopi Fatah, Haitham Yousef, Kazim Sahir, Ceylan, Ezeddin Yıldızhan, Nihad Doğan and others.
In 1996, when he left Kurdistan due to the civil war, he moved to Turkey and settled in Istanbul. On 25-05-1997, they had a daughter named Darya. Kawa Kawani was arrested and imprisoned by the Turkish government for lack of identity card, passport and visa. When Darya was three and a half months old, her mother left her with her brothers and moved to another country. Kawa will not see the sea again until December 2011.[1]
