Awrahman Pasha was the son of Mahmud Pasha of Baban, one of the most famous Kurdish princes. During his reign, the Baban Emirate faced many major political and military changes. He soon realized that the narrow borders of the region and the lack of direct contact with the Ottoman Sultan were two major threats to the Kurds and the Baban Emirate.
Therefore, during his lifetime, he tried several times to expand the borders of the Baban Emirate and have an armed force so that the governor of Baghdad could not interfere in his affairs.
The long-standing conflict between the Iranian and Ottoman states and the disagreements between the Baban chieftains buried this wish of Awrahman Pasha.
Awrahman Pasha was the Emir of Baban for 24 years from 1783 until the mid-1980s. He fought many heroic battles to defend the emirate. He was that powerful that was able to endanger the power of the governor of Baghdad.
The Ottoman authorities quickly sensed the danger of these great goals of Awrahman Pasha, so several times in order to remove him from Kurdistan, offered him a ministerial post in Istanbul, but Awrahman Pasha rejected these offers.
In addition to being a military commander and a skilled leader in administrative affairs, Awrahman Pasha was also a generous man and a great supporter of scholars, poets and writers.
With the destruction of Awrahman Pasha, the Baban Empire lost its independence and came under the control of the governor of Baghdad and the Ottoman authorities.
This famous king of the Baban Empire died on #22-08-1813#.[1]
