Najmadeen Aziz Smail was born in the year 1953 in the Sabashakh village of the Kandinawa area of province of Erbil, South Kurdistan. He completed his primary education there until the fourth grade, the fifth grade in Erbil Primary School in Erbil and the sixth grade in Azadi Primary School. He completed his secondary and high school education in Erbil. In the year 1971, he entered the Kurdish Department of the College of Literature of Baghdad University and graduated in the year 1975. In the year 1972, while still a college student, he started working as an announcer and translator in Kurdish Radio Baghdad. At the end of the year 1977, he was transferred to the Secretariat General of Culture and Youth of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Erbil. He retired in the year 1989 at his own request. In the year 1992 he entered Erbil Evening Law College. In the year 1993 he moved to the Netherlands. He received his bachelor's degree in law in 2005. In the years 2008-2011 he completed his master's degree at Al-Hurrah University in the Netherlands.
In the year 2021, he began writing and visiting Kurdish poets, writers and artists, especially those he worked with during the time he was in charge of the cultural department of the Secretariat of Culture. He has published two volumes of his book (Myself and the Bright Stars) and the third volume will be published soon. He plans to continue visiting Kurdish poets and writers. [1]
