Kareem Sharaza

Kareem Sharaza
- His full name is Karim son of Mustafa Agha son of Hamagha Hawezi.
- He was born on 1928-03-04 in Hawa neighborhood of Koya.
- The poet's title is Sharaza and he is known as Karim Sharaza.
- He was brought up in an educated literary family.
- In 1935 he went to the first primary school in Koya and completed his secondary education in 1946 in Koya.
In the autumn of 1946, he went to Baghdad and was admitted to the primary teachers' college in Azamiya. In the early summer of 1950, he graduated.
- On 1950-10-09 he was appointed as a teacher in the first primary school in Koya and taught Arabic and Kurdish.
- After 11 years of education and teaching, he was expelled to the province of Ziqar and Nasiriyah and was appointed as an Arabic language teacher in a village near the town of Shatra.
- On 7-12-1964 he was assigned to Shaira Secondary School to teach Arabic in the third grade.
In the autumn of 1966, he was transferred to Erbil province and worked as a teacher in Karaj primary school in Makhmur for two years.
- In the autumn of 1968, he moved to Erbil and was appointed as a Kurdish and Arabic teacher in Erbil Exemplary Primary School.
- After the March 11, 1970 agreement, he was appointed director of Korek Primary School for Boys in Erbil.
- On 31-8-1971 he was transferred to the directorate of Halgurd primary school for boys, where education was in Arabic. He converted its education to Kurdish by order of the Erbil Education Directorate.
- After 20 years of teaching and 12 years of school management, he retired.
- In February 1970, he became a member of the Kurdish literary organization with the establishment of the Kurdish Writers Union.
- He was a member of the founding committee of the Kurdish Writers Union, Erbil Branch, which received its official license on 1970-12-03.
- Elected as the secretary of the executive committee of the Kurdish Writers Union, Erbil branch. From 1978 to 1983, he was elected president of the Kurdish Writers Union, Erbil Branch.
- Participated in all congresses, seminars and festivals of the Kurdish Writers Union.
In the autumn of 1973, he was elected as an assistant member of the Kurdish Information Center in Baghdad.
- In 1997, he was elected as a member of the Kurdistan Academy. Until 2013, he worked as a translator of laws and decisions of the Kurdistan Parliament.
- From 1968 until his death, he lived in Runaki neighborhood of Erbil and wrote his memoirs.
He has published multiple books including poems, research, and educational textbooks.[1]
