Mustafa Bag, son of Mahmood Bag Sahebqran, also known as Kurdi, was born in 1809 or 1812 in #Sulaymaniyah# . He died in Sulaymaniyah in 1850 and was buried in the Saywan Hill. Like the children of his time, the poet learned to read in the hujra, but did not continue his studies to become a mullah. Mustafa Bag Kurdi is considered to be one of the founders of the Baban school of poetry and was a follower of the Qadiri sect. But unfortunately, few of his poetic works have reached readers, in addition, the names of poets appear along with Nali and Salim, but have not been given proper attention.
$The hidden aspect of Kurdi's life$
Many hidden aspects have not yet been unveiled in the life of Mustafa Bag Kurdi, which has led to many myths being mixed with the his life that have no scientific basis. It is said that Mustafa Bag was in love with a girl named Qadriya, the woman that inspired Mustafa Bag's poetry. It is said that Mustafa Bag Kurdi met the Iranian king and had a poetic competition with the great Iranian poet Aqani. The Iranian king was very impressed by Kurdi. However, this narrative is doubtful and it is impossible for a Kurdish man from Baban to reach the Shah of Iran and there in the Shah's Majlis a Sunni man to attack the Shah Aqani sect of poets. However, it does not diminish the poetic ability and the attitude of Mustafa Bag, but Mustafa Bag, who was exiled to Iran, is not easy for him to reach the Shah of Iran. Furthermore, in his collection of poems, which is now available, it does not say that he reached the royal palace and fought with Aqani. The name Qadir has been used many times in the Kurdish poems of the poet, without being fully explained who this name belongs to and who is Qadir?[1]
