Muhammad Salih Ibraheem Muhammadi
Muhammad Salih Ibraheem Muhammadi
Writer, translator, researcher, journalist and university professor. Dr. Mohammad Saleh Ibrahimi, also known as Shapol, was born in 1933 in Mahabad, Iran.
Shapol, was the son of Mullah Ibrahim, who was the son of the Arif Rabani Haji Khalifa Mullah Mohammed, who was known as an expert scholar at the time.
Shapol learned the Holy Quran from his father according to the old customs and then completed his ancient religious studies in the hujra with the scholarly mullahs and then continued his studies and research with Haji Mullah Hussein Majdi in Mahabad.
After passing these stages, he received a teaching license and in 1956 became the preacher of the Nahri Khanaqah and at the same time became a teacher in the Red Mosque.
Shapol was eager to learn all his life, which led him to leave Mahabad and teaching in the mosque and move to Tehran to continue his studies. Shapol continued his studies at Tehran University, where he completed his doctorate and master's degree and later became a professor at Tehran University.
Shapol began his collaboration with Kurdish Radio Tehran in 1964 and presented several speeches and articles on Kurdish culture and language to the Kurdish community.
In 1968, Shapol established the Kurdish Language Center in Tehran with the help of Jamil Rojbayani, Mohammad Sadeghi Mufti Zadeh, Suwara Ilkhani Zadeh and several others.
Shapol, as a wish to publish a magazine in his native language, was able to establish the magazine Gershay Kurdistan after many ups and downs and published nine issues of this magazine in nine months.
Shapol has 35 published works, each of which is a special treasure for the further enrichment of the Kurdish library.
Some of Shapol's works include: Translation of the Holy Quran into Kurdish, Uprising of General Mustafa Barzani, Treasury of Culture and Science, Kurdish Scholars, Kobani, Social Popularity, Kurdish Women in History.
Shapol was appointed as the president of the Kurdish Language and Culture Council for his services and expertise in Kurdish literature. He was also awarded several honorary awards at literary conferences, including the Halabja Martyrs Anniversary Award and the Badrkhan Publishing House.
Shapol passed away on 26-05-2018 in Tehran after struggling with an illness.[1]
