He was born in the year 1938 in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in the (Great Yard) of the Kani Akan neighborhood of the city. He was the only child in his father's house and he was loved by all of his neighborhood. According to his nieces and neighborhood boys and girls, everyone called him Xala(Aunt) Hama. xala Hama Faraj was a talented calligrapher of his city. In 1976, at the request of Sheikh Mohammed Khal, he rewrote the book Kanz al-Lsan in his own handwriting. He was a talented voice and had a divine talent in this regard, so he participated in most of the demonstrations as a pioneer, because of his voice and he played a prominent role. In the 1950s and 1960s, he worked as an announcer and director of Kurdish plays in the Kurdish station in Baghdad. In 1969, he directed Shakespeare's Hamlet, whose actors are now all well-known artists. In the 1980s, he became the director of the Cultural Center of Sulaymaniyah University. He prepared and presented a successful television program for Sulaymaniyah University, although he was an employee of the local administration. After the 1991 Kurdistan Uprising, he worked in the Ministry of Culture and the Kurdistan Regional Government. In his last job, he was the head of the Kurdistan National Archives, in the library of the Sulaymaniyah Museum, which belonged to the Ministry of Culture, to revive and preserve ancient documents and manuscripts of the Kurdish library and was an honorary member of the Kurdish Culture and Folklore Association. He died on Monday #12-02-2008# in Sulaymaniyah at the age of 70 due to a stroke.[1]
