This prominent poet was born blind in #Sulaymaniyah# . He was taught the Holy Qur'an as a child and did not attend any other school, but he had an extraordinary intelligence and a high talent for poetry. With that blindness, he did things that even a healthy person could not do. Mullah Hamdoon was also fluent in Persian and wrote many excellent poems in that language. He lived in Istanbul for a long time and learned Turkish well there. This outstanding poet has established strong ties with the Kurds of Istanbul and is highly respected. Most of the poems and literary works of this tasteful poet have disappeared, but the remaining poems are enough to put Mullah Hamdoon among the famous poets of his time, especially his famous poem on the occasion of World War I, which artistically depicted the high conditions of that time. This talented poet died in 1915 at the age of 65.[1]
