Fevzî Özmen
Die kurdische Kulturbewegung TEV-ÇAND trauert um #Fevzî Özmen# , „stummer Held der Revolution gegen die Assimilation und den Ethnozid in Kurdistan“. Der Linguist und Autor war am Wochenende an den Folgen einer Krebserkrankung gestorben.
Wenn es darum geht, die Personen zu benennen, die im Exil die Entwicklung und Pflege der kurdischen Sprache angestoßen, forciert und entscheidend geprägt haben, darf sein Name nicht fehlen: Fevzî Özmen. Der Linguist und Autor war Vorsitzender des Kurdischen Instituts für Wissen und Forschung e.V. und verfasste Lehrbücher zur kurdischen Grammatik. Zudem war er Ehrenvorsitzender des Verbands kurdischer Lehrer:innen (YMK) und Mitglied im PEN, erteilte auch selbst Unterricht in kurdischer Sprache.

Am Wochenende ist Fevzî Özmen nach längerer, schwerer Krankheit im Alter von 80 Jahren in Hagen verstorben. „Wir sind tief betroffen, dass ein wichtiger Sprachpfleger des Kurdischen von uns gegangen ist“, erklärte die Bewegung für demokratische Kultur und Kunst (Tevgera Çand û Hunerê ya Demokratîk, TEV-ÇAND). Gerade in einer Zeit, in der das kurdische Volk „beispiellosen Angriffen“ ausgesetzt ist, treffe der Verlust von Özmen seine Freund:innen, Weggefährt:innen und Schüler:innen noch viel härter. „Für sein Engagement gebührt ihm unser aller Respekt.“

Özmen stammte aus der Serhed-Region in Nordkurdistan. Er kam 1943 im Dorf Şorax in Erzîrom-Oxlê (tr. Erzirom-Çat) zur Welt und studierte Betriebswirtschaft in Istanbul. Nach jahrelangem Engagement in kurdischen politischen Kreisen musste er ins Exil gehen und lebte seit 1993 in Deutschland. Seitdem setzte er sich beharrlich für den Erhalt der kurdischen Sprache ein. Der autoritären Assimilations- und Verbotspolitik des türkischen Staates ist es in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten gelungen, in einigen kurdischen Siedlungsgebieten die kurdische Sprache zurückzudrängen. So entstand eine verlorene Generation, in der die Eltern ihre Muttersprache noch mit ihren eigenen Eltern benutzten, aber nicht mit ihren Kindern.

„Mamoste Fevzî hatte sich dem Kampf angenommen, diese gravierende Entwicklung der vergangenen Jahrzehnte zu korrigieren. Er war aber nicht nur Sprachlehrer und Forscher. Auch war er nicht lediglich ein Pfleger und Verteidiger von Kultur. Vielmehr war Fevzî Özmen stummer Held der Revolution gegen die Assimilation und den Ethnozid in Kurdistan. Er brachte hunderten jungen Menschen ihre Muttersprache bei, um seinen Beitrag dafür zu leisten, dass es keine weitere verlorene Generation gibt. Er schrieb auch literarische Werke, weil er den Erhalt der Literatur als kulturelles Erbe begriff. Der Motor, der ihn bei seinem Wirken stets antrieb, war die Realität, dass Widerstand Leben bedeutet und eine Nation ohne Sprache und Kultur nicht existieren kann. Seine Leidenschaft, sein Einsatz und seine Stimme werden uns allen fehlen.“[1]
