Title: Taking stock: The arming of Islamic State
Place of publication: U.K
Publisher: Amnesty International
Release date: 2015
The armed group calling itself Islamic State (#IS# ) deploys a substantial arsenal of arms and ammunition, designed or manufactured in more than 25 countries. Their military campaign has relentlessly targeted civilians with small arms, artillery fire and improvised explosive devices. This report catalogues the array of weapons, ammunition and other military equipment observed in the possession of IS. Supplier states and the Iraqi authorities urgently need to implement far stricter controls on the transfer, storage and deployment of arms to avoid further proliferation to armed groups and abuses of human rights.[1]
