He was born in 1941 in Ammara, southern Iraq. He was from Sulaymaniyah, but his father was a civil servant, but they were living in Ammara they were living at the time due to his work. He came to West Germany in 1961 and graduated from medical college. He was married to a German girl and later divorced. Dr. Lawchak was one of the Kurdish activists who played a prominent role in the field of education, politics and the Kurdish struggle. He was one of the 15 people with whom Mam Jalal met in Berlin for consultations.[1]
